Currently on a trip to California to get in Golden Gate racetrack on my list before they disappear permanently.
Went to the Graton Casino in Rohnert Park, which is north of San Francisco.
Casino was a very well kept facility, rewards comps for hours played at poker, and an excellent food court.
I was planning on playing poker there for four days at 1/3 NL. I believe the rake is 5 + 1 or 5 + 2. Here is an example of one of my hands: Someone limps in for $3, I call, and all others fold. I win the pot. The dealer takes the $6 rake and pushes me my $1 winning! On another hand, I am in the BB. Folds all around except the SB who completes. After the flop, I bet $10 and my opponent folds. The dealer pushes me my $10 flop bet back, then rakes the remaining $6 pot.
Later called a different poker room in the area, and they also rake the max after the flop, so maybe it is a California thing. If the SB and BB "chop", they take $1 from the BB.
I love playing poker, but only someone who does not value their money plays in a game with these conditions. I guess if I played 10/20 NL like thaskalos then the rake would be timed or much less significant. BTW thaskalos, are you still playing and where?
