the trial has been going on now for about a week. the betting line before the trial started had Democrats a slight favorite. the line has flip-flopped to the Republicans as the favorite, small but meaningful.

my prediction: if there is a conviction to this case, the Republicans will be a stronger favorite.

What is uniquely odd about this trial is that he is being charged with keeping fraudulent records, but the trial itself is trying to prove that he was part of a conspiracy to commit election interference, which is was never charged with doing.

By the way, neither of those "crimes" is a crime and/or the statute of limitations ran out long ago.

So the prosecution is attempting to convince the jury that Trump did something he isn't being charged with in hopes that they won't see through the ruse and convict Trump of the crime they aren't actually putting in front of the jury. I don't know how the prosecution and judge think this will ever get past the appellate system. This is banana republic stuff.
