It's currently Rob Tuel, in his second year there after taking over from Mike Chamberlin (who'd been there since 2015). Saying "Ils sont partis" at the start of each race is apparently a condition of the announcing hire, as either Chamberlin or Tuel has mentioned that they asked if they could just say it for the first race of the night and were told no, every race!

what would really be cool is if instead of the track announcer talking during the race, they mic all the jockeys up and pipe them hollering and cussing through the track PA system.

One of my all time favorites. Loved Larry at Garden State.

It is spelled « Ils sont partis ». Although it is incorrectly used with Filly and Mare races since ils is a masculine plural; the proper term for those races should be « elles sont parties ».

Vic just called out Bejarno after race 6 at Oak

After the race he said Bejarano needs to learn about the finish line

What does it mean if someone is pandering?

to please other people by doing or saying what you think they want you to do or say

Maybe he was instructed to ride the horse out an extra sixteenth?

Maybe Vic should mind his own business. How many times did he blow the finish in his 1st year at Oaklawn? There were numerous times when he made the same mistake, he didn’t need to call out Bejarano.

That happens. But when those instructions are given by the trainer. He must inform the Stewards who in turn tell the announcer who tells the public.

Then I must be doing a piss poor job of pandering!

I don't seem to please many.

My business is to report the racing action in a fair and unbiased manner. A jock making a mistake is no different than a play by play guy saying Brady threw 3 INTS or Judge struck out 4 times.

It's not personal. I've HEAPED praise on RAFA for his red hot start.

If I'm not transparent IMO I lose credibility with the fans.

As for my first year and mistakes.

I was VERY sick with a debilitating affliction called Hyperparathyroidism.

Great to pull something from 7 years ago to justify a weak take.

Nice
