Time for the Logan Act?
“I want to be optimistic,” said Thornton, whose 27-year career in Washington ended in July. “I tell all our foreign counterparts they should keep steady, keep their heads down and wait. [They should] try to not let anything change dramatically.”.......
..........“If this sceptical attitude towards talking diplomacy continues in this administration, you might have to wait till another administration,” Thornton said at an event held by National Committee of US-China relations and Shanghai’s American Chamber.
............“China’s political design has an edge in negotiations because it does not need to display as much information to the public through the media,” she said....................

Why are these so-called Americans giving advice to foreign powers to ignore a duly elected administration.
Something needs to be done, an example needs to be set that giving advice, by non-elected persons, to foreign powers to not deal with a duly elected administration is not a good idea.

OMG!
A private citizen publicly expressing a view contrary to that of The Donald? Off with her head!

The Logan Act is back in the news, and its invocation is as breathtakingly stupid as it has always been.
The law has been around since 1799, yet nobody has ever been prosecuted for violating it (two people have been indicted but never prosecuted). Attempting to enforce the law would demonstrate just how thoroughly it violates the free speech rights of Americans.

Advice to the "gathering in Shanghai" she was speaking to?
A distinction without a difference. Either is an exercise of free speech.

No. To the gathering she had been describing her actions.
Her action is giving advice. To wit: “ I tell all our foreign counterparts they should keep steady, keep their heads down and wait. [They should] try to not let anything change dramatically.”.......
She tells our foreign counterparts to do something, which is giving advice.

I am only beating a dead horse, if you don't understand that an opinion and advice are not the same. Just like the dead horse you are incapable of responding to the stimulus, i.e. the definitions.
However, I want you to be happy so you may have the last word, if you desire.

John Kerry telling the people he 'negotiated great deal with' in Iran that Trump will not be president long.
I wonder when next dim president comes along that likes muslims, if they send another few planes full of cash?
