On the Left Coast, a lot of it has to do with no longer hassling people for drug possession. Homelessness there is a by-product of another failed liberal policy.

A couple of weeks ago I had a DRs appointment on East Side NYC, walked from Port Authority east on 42nd. I ate at a McShit, I usually don't but needed quick, got an oatmeal and two hash browns. Anyway, while finishing up a homeless dude came in and the stench was unfreakingbelievable. He took the seat nearby and I had to high tail it out of there. The kind of stench that lingers in your nostrils for 5 minutes or so, yuck.
Don't mean to hate on a down and out person but mental illness probably takes a part in many of these people.
