That very well may be the case. But I am afraid Dortmund has a case of "Glass Joe-itis"
Over/under on number of times Dortmund leaves a starting gate this year? I'd put it at 2.5 and play the under.

Dortmund is a talented giant and he has a top trainer.
He has not proven to be capable of relaxing, and that will always weigh against him at the higher levels, and probably make soundness tougher to maintain.

Enough
Horse missed work due to a quarter crack.
Has one of the best trainers around,
who says he's not where he wants him to be.
What's the big deal?
Enough with the conspiracy theories......

He has been working regularly, just not to Baffert's liking apparently.

Come on. If California Chrome wasn't running in the San Pasqual, Dortmund would be running. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it.
The big question will be if he shows up in the San Antonio, like Baffert says. I doubt it.

That's what's wrong with this game (at least a small part of it).
Connections know who will be where and then avoid with BS excuses to avoid a showdown.
There are too many high $ races around for not that many horses. It's easy to avoid.
Baffert is ICE cold at the meet. Maybe some of the "training methods" have been altered ?

If Baffert felt the horse was right, he would run him.
Chrome, or no Chrome.

So you're saying someone as sharp as Baffert doesn't ever consider who he might be running against and just enters willy nilly?

He may think his horse isn't good enough for the San Pasqual, idk.
Never ducked CC with Bayern, now did he?

That's exactly what he's saying. If Dortmund was ready, of course he'd run him. Especially if Chrome is considered the main threat.

I don't know about ducking or not ducking, do you think he ever considers who he might be running against? What you're saying is that he wouldn't consider it and all that matters is if the horse is ready to go.

That's a contradiction in terms.
To me, they are one and the same.
If he felt he had a healthy 4yo colt ready to run
in the G2 San Pasqual, yes, he would run him.

Baffert's usually not an enter and scratch kind of guy. He seems to have a "you can't beat them if you don't run against them" attitude.
