* 2016 new yrs resolution (racing edition)

2015 was a profitable year but i feel like i left a lot on the table... feel free to post any resolutions you have or goals to make you a better player.. mine are in this order are

1) stop with all the unnecessary action bets

2) watch even more replays

3) trust my reads and crush races harder where i feel like i have an edge and hate a favorite/short price.

4) stick me 3 tracks max... and hawk and stay in tune with trainer patterns.

5) never tilt

6) do not bet bad jockeys/trainers ever!

I cant remember the last time I had a profitable year

Had some big days, but certainly got crushed on others, but that is the life of a horse player.

Definitely need to trust my judgement more on horses I really like. Scared money dont make money.

AND depending on what track I will be working at this summer, I am planning on making a two week trip to Saratoga instead of the long weekends i usually do.

Quit the inner track OR any track where Irad and Jose rule the roost. Only play when JV, Javier, Joel and other (guys who don't live with them) jocks are live in a race.

Make sure I go ALL IN (instead of dabbling on bombs) during the 1st week of the INNER track meet (when small time stables are given some meat on the table at MONSTROUS PRICES).

Make sure I bet every pick 6 in April. I hit for $30,000 plus thousand and $50,000 plus thousand in April at AQU on non carryover days.

Don't ever bet a single dollar on night racing (reduced that by 90% over the years).

Incorporate TFUS pace figures into all wagering, they are VERY GOOD. CJ does a great job.

Curse out ANYONE who comes near my desk while I am thinking at the track. Been nice way too often and have lost out on $20,000 Pick 3's and even more profit on races due to being shut out while I appease a "friendly" person.

Watch more gallop outs live. Being stuck in a nice room at the BIG A is nice but not having the ability to watch races live like I used to is a killer (thanks JACKASSES-Gentings resort casino or whatever the F your name is).

Hire someone to take down notes on every single thing that Maggie says. She is very good at what she does. Unfortunately, while I am at work, I miss her thoughts on Wed Thu Fri and that sucks.

Learn how to play Derby Wars and other such non parimutuel contests. Been too involved in parimutuel wars, I am sure there are tons of fish in that sea.

Continue to avoid stupid track "tips".

Continue to go all in on horses with deceptive edges (very deceptive poor trips, just had throat surgery, against extreme biases etc.)

Continue to enjoy the spirit of the game, to enjoy intellectually stimulating success against peers.

Continue to POST ON PA AND MAKE SURE I CLICK ON ADS 5X a WEEK

Write more letters to state officials about smelly races and be more insistent.

Use a Fred Flinstone sling shot and shoot Irad and Jose in the eye so they can't ride again Alright just kidding, I wish no harm on anyone, even jocks I despise.

Watch even more replays. Then watch them again. When I'm done, watch them again and take more notes.

BEG Classhandicapper to help Lonnie figure out how to add a second line to each horse's TRIP NOTES FEATURE.

Continue to strive to be the best friend that I can be, to fellow horseplayers and of course non horseplayers.

1. Never believe anything Equibad publishes. Always verify.
2. Never bet GP, KEE.
3. Never bet a race with an (2) Ortiz's riding in it.
4. Do not be impressed with any 3yo until after May 1st.
5. Watch out out for those 3yos cutting back after the triple crown.
6. Never bet GP, KEE.
7. Find out what those super trainers are using and see if it is available on the internet.

I would suggest that if you plan on spending more time watching tape, you shouldn't hold to your #6 resolution. These three words will set you free:

KNOW YOUR HORSE.

Becoming an equine talent expert through diligent and 'no stones unturned' replay work will be your strength, don't turn it into a weakness by letting the humans get into your head.

This is a HORSE racing game, if the humans are getting into your dome, you'll struggle getting to the next level.

Most jocks are competent enough, if you stick to betting ON low percentage riders, you will have the occasional bonehead ride, but that's ok because you're going to be compensated handsomely on the tote board.

Darn right. I'll take a scrub against Jose Ortiz or Javier or JV ANY DAY OF THE WEEK 100X over in an honestly run race.

1. Quit playing tracks that run donkeys, CT ,MNR, Penn Nat'l.

2.Instead of putting $2 bets on my long shots and $100 bets on chalk, bet
$100 on my long shots and don't play chalk at all.

3. Hibernate from Thanksgiving until Easter and don't play the horses. Take a
long nap.

4. Pull that damn trigger, don't hold back , it's only money!

OR, you COULD take Jose or Javier if you love the horse.

They kill the price and they somehow forget how to ride too often.

I am a HORSEPLAYER but a HORSEPLAYER who has learned to avoid the best horses/most valuable horse when an over rated stiff artist is riding.

Every situation is different but extremely bluntly, I'd rather have Angel Arroyo on my horse than Irad/Jose/Javier/JV.

Even though they are somewhat talented (tallest midgets but way under par in terms of great), they are over rated.

Now, if we're talking a G1 or a real $$$$ race, I'd have to prefer to have the tallest midget (in terms of talent) on my horse (Javier or otherwise VS. a low % jock).

Problem is Irad, Jose, Javier etc are capable of producing stunning rides at times and winning races that they shouldn't win. They are exceptionally skilled jockeys.. when they are in their best form...

Totally true. You gotta 'read the room' like Billy Montana in order to zig when these guys are zigging it's a skill set worth acquiring.

you must have a bad experience with Javier.. he is by far the best jockey in the country rite now it really aint even close.. hes well in tuned knows whats going on out there. knows where to be on the track and finishes strong. catches the bias way before the average jockey does
