Boys At Tosconova

Anybody else afraid this guy's gonna bounce?
He whooped Settle for Medal, who came back to win his next start, who in turn beat Astrology, who also came back to win.
Even after scratches, The Hopeful is an interesting race.

I'm not a huge fan of this horse. Sure, he's fast and horses normally look good when they 'swell up' on the front end, but when they're heavily pressed by quality horses, things usually turn out different.

He seemed to gallop out poorly at Belmont. Maybe it was just me, but i think maybe his 2 month break was because he didnt come out of his last race so well. He could bounce, or he could be just not be that good.

He's also a sprinty type, he doesnt seem like a horse who will go on to be a successful router.

I wasnt in love with either of the other main contenders either, but if Boys is 2-5, i'll be betting against him and holding my breath. If Boys wins, under pressure and grinds out a win, i'll be betting against him next time at 2-5. He certainly can win today, his competition isn't all that great, but i do feel as time goes on, his competition will get stronger and stronger. I can't wait to bet against him when they stretch him out to 2 turns.

I beleive this colt will get the 2 turns...a quick look at his pedigree shows he has several in there that went 1 1/4...I'm looking foward to seeing the Hopeful, and I hope he wins the thing

It looks like only four will start. If I can get odds of 3-1 or higher, I will place a win bet on #7 Wine Police. He was very sharp in his debut.

As a fan, I'm rooting for Boys.
I want a 2yo I can get excited about heading into the fall.
As a bettor, I'm rooting for Settle for Medal.
Astrology's win yesterday flattered his form.

At the odds, I thought it was a foolish bet. At the field size, I thought running the race was foolish.

Does he get an asterisk for beating his shadow?

Too many 2 year old graded races - cut the number in half.
And, should ANY 2yo race be graded at all? This was NW1 race in reality.

May 2011 is a long way off. BC Juvenile could tell the story? No doubt, tactical speed, but can he go longer? Seems bred for 6f - 1mile, but rated very nice today. Can he close at a distance? Stay tuned.

This act is getting to be an oh-so-tiring one...

When he does win a two turn race you'll simply take your 27 posts and never appear again, so how do we collect?

in full field of 2 year olds going a route for the first time any fav below 2-1 is a bet against. he relaxed nicely enough the first 6 furs. if this one turns out to be the derby fav heres hoping dick dutrow does a better job with the reporters this time around. he left much to be desired with his first taste of celebrity.

This will all change when we are all active Betfair subscribers.......

He'll have to put his money where his mouth is then!

Or, maybe not.........

its a good prediction. But, he will be able to win a 2 turn race if he races in short fields vs bad competition.
