Belmont new $3 pik3
It debuted yesterday, I played $50.
On nyrabet com its not in the track list of wagers. It's in the drop-down list of tracks, just under Belmont. That probably hurt handle.
I was surprised they still offered the $1 pool . The $1 pool was ,
150k, the $3 pool was about 50k.
They paid similar. $33 for a buck, $98 for the $3
NYRA doesn't want to canibalize so they debuted it Sunday. Last 3 races, 7,8,9.
I predict it'll be short lived.
Or it will be like the EXACT 5 at Gulfstream. The exact 5 pool is tiny, but the players are the Senditin Army so the bet won't die.
.

offering two different pick three's on the same races probably isn't the smartest move

I like the idea but it’s clearly executed poorly. Make it for the three best races of the card or a turf pick 3, which is a fantastic bet at Keeneland.

The regular $1 pool got more action than the new $3 pool. There is no need for both and it seemed to confuse customers.

Elevator pitch.
New bet.
I want to stake money in exchange for a minimum payout.
I stake $500 in the Kentucky derby trifecta pool.
I want 100 $5Trifecta tickets
I only want trifecta combinations pay $2000 or more.
It's like a slot machine. Slots, you hit a button and the machine issues you your combinations. The payouts are preset.
Tracks have the computation power to do it, and they have actuaries to build the risk models. Pretty easy actually.

Turf Pick 3 is a strong idea for Belmont, solid suggestion there.

$45,040 handled in the triple p3 today versus $192,007 for the traditional p3.
Triple p3 payout was $181 while the traditional paid out $79 for a buck (or $237 for three)
Safe to say these new wager is not working? I think the idea needs to be turfed.

Any new type of wager is worth the shot but a pick 3 is still a pick 3 no matter what the denomination.
Now as I have mentioned in previous posts, making the minimum WPS bet 5.00 could work out very well for tracks especially a track like Saratoga. There is a lot of dead money bet on track and making the WPS a different minimum could make things more exciting for the novice player.
I also believe a twin trifecta bet in horse racing could be very interesting as well.

The Twin Trifecta is an awesome bet! Much better than this jackpot-this and jackpot-that garbage.

Love the Twin Trifecta Idea, as well as the creative Turf or Classy Full Fields( race of day ) stuff.
$3.00 Pick 3??
been playing simulcast a bit lately and haven't seen the offering yet
$3 min ( or any higher min eg $2p6 etc... ) are supposed to reward depth. Meaning, if you have a couple 7/1 fourth choices, or longer, you are supposed to be 'scooping the pool' of the lean tickets.
However, the opposite is true when the results lack depth ( say you get 3 winners who are 'A's and 'B's... ) you may get an underlay vs the 50cent pool where some players went too fat for the chalky sequence.
I don't know how well that's working. It may be reaching a lot of weekend warriors and actually working well, or it may be too top heavy.
