He's not much of a race caller. Then again, I pretty much stopped watching America's Day at the Races when they replaced him. Dude deserves better.

The call in the opening race was very solid in a technically difficult race. With five horses alive inside the final furlong, Anthony picked up the rail runner, the new leader, and the late closer - all by name - without missing a beat.
I have been my own "in-house" announcer for years and was always better at calling the trotters. Even knowing the result, I dare anyone to call the 54+ seconds of the Finger Lakes opener without making a mistake in that stretch drive. Go ahead and try it - guaranteed that you will mess up a couple of the horses in the stretch.
Nice job as Anthony gets his "own booth", only the third person to call at the Lakes in all these years. (Ponder that one when you have a moment.)

I will reserve judgement about his calls for 5 months from now when he is all settled in. That 1st race was very exiting indeed.
BTW, Finger Lakes live streams on YouTube https://youtube.com/@FingerLakesRace...bY0h9yBxciIQoH

I thought he did fine, Things will settle after those first couple weeks of the four and a half's. Wish I could've played today but Mondays I work, took Friday off and they're closed. Oh well. Different times we live in.

I'll be curious to see if he improves by the end of the meet and has settled in. Having listened to plenty of his calls at Yonkers over the last year, he's not really my cup of tea.

Anthony does a great job like I knew he would. An easy listen compared to others.
