BELMONT VLTS
ONCE THE BELMONT PLANT IS WINTERIZED ,THE RACINO/CASINO
COULD EASILY BE RUNNING, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A POSSIBLE LEGAL
ACTION BROUGHT BY THE MALAYSAN OPERATIONS OF THE RACINO
AT THE BIG A.
THEN AGAIN, MOST PEOPLE BELIEVE THE RACINO WOULD WELOCME
THE SCENARIO STATED ABOVE.
PERHAPS ONE DAY, DEPSITE STANDARDBRED OPPOSITION, WE MIGHT SEE
NIGHT RACING ON AN INTERIM BASIS IF BELMONT GETS THE VLTS;
ONE THING IS CERTAIN, AT LEAST IN MY MIND, THIS IS THE VISION OF jEFF GURAL AT CLUB MED, AND TABLE GAMES WILL BE DEMANDED..
I DOUBT I'M WRONG AS THE ORIGINAL MEDOWLANDS PLANT IS STILL STANDING...

Frankly, considering the crowds that attend both tracks, neither should be in operation. It is just a matter of time before both are converted to other uses which involve more than a thousand people showing up a four days a week.
If I owned both, I would sell them off and buy some cheap land upstate and create a racing/training center. Who cares if the crowds dropped, there are so few people there anyway it would hardly matter.

Cheap land like what? Like in Saratoga? Do you know how cold it is in Saratoga Springs outside of July and August?
I hate contraction but when it happens, you will have 4 states/tracks running on most days. Belmont, SA, GP and for a few days a year KY.
Minor league racing will revolve around drug filled Louisana and maybe Seattle in the summer. Monmouth might stay alive with some supplements. PA racing will die. Delaware is almost dead. VA is dead. Hoosier TB racing is gone. MI died.
Belmont will never close. It's the 3rd Jewel of the TC. Won't be relocated anywhere.

I get so SAD just thinking about these discussions.
On my life, if I or most of YOU were in charge of a racetrack, we'd fill it to the rafters and make it profitable.
Without those dumbass slut machines.

Anyway, the NIMBY's have yet to be heard from - Queens Village and Bellerose might go along, but Floral Park and Elmont not so much.
I predict it will wind up in Plainview (Nassau Downs, expanded as necessary) or Hempstead (new facility).

According to this map, the blue line indicates the property boundary for the track's lot. The dashed line is the County line.. Only a very small sliver of NYRA property lies inside Queens County. It appears that none of the physical structure lies within Queens County.

The tax info can be accesses by clicking the "i" ....Note the market value. $127 million.

Tolls too.....EZ pass holders from NJ( me) would pay $12.50 for the GWB and $5,54 each way for a total of........$23.08 in tolls......That's a whole race worth of bets on my budget.
If I were still in NJ, I'd most likely cut way back on my trips to the track and do most of my wagering on line. Sucks.
