Who are you pulling for? I can feel the excitement in your posts.

Back to Summit 2.

I served in the military during the late 60's. Was an advisor in South Korea, then stateside to a base from which B-52's were deployed to bomb N. Viet Nam. If you told me then that a future US president would someday be fawning over the North Korean dictator in Hanoi, of all places, I would have had you committed!

I fully expect that Trump will return and proclaim "peace in our time" for all.

Well airports have been shut down, flights cancelled, Northwestern Indian Airports have been closed down, seized by the military, and are now being used to conduct operations.

As far as who I'm pulling for... I don't think anyone in their right mind supports Pakistan in a conflict with anyone... what I'm pulling for, however, is a slow deescalation of this as opposed to it continuing to ratchet up.

Neighboring nuclear powers slugging it out makes me nervous.

Looks more Promising than every other US Administration and you could of imagined.

HANOI (Reuters) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told the U.S. secretary of state he did not want his children to live with the burden of nuclear weapons, a former CIA officer involved in high-level diplomacy over the North’s weapons was quoted as saying on Saturday.

Kim made the rare personal comments to Mike Pompeo

“‘I’m a father and a husband. And I have children’,” Andrew Kim quoted the North Korean leader as telling Pompeo, when asked whether he was willing to end his nuclear program.

“‘And I don’t want my children to carry the nuclear weapon on their back their whole life

I wouldn't believe a word this guy says. First off, I'd bet hard money he has lots more than 3 kids, many half Korean, half Swedish.

Any deals made on his word, rather than actions, is a sucker's deal. The art of lying has been a key to communist leader's negotiating MO since Lenin.

Kim has been a man of his word since the last Summit: returned
hostages, returned remains of the dead and hasn't fired any missiles.
Theres no pleasing some people, actions do matter.

+1

In the end, he may fail to get what he wants, but at least he is there trying.
If he were to listened the great brains here, failure would have been certain from the get go.

I think that it is positive our President is making the effort to solve the NK problem. For some nothing can be done by Donald J. Trump because hate is such a factor, these are just very small people. People who have been groomed to be leaders have much bigger goals than those small people. Because some are predisposed to bigger goals there is a direct correlation to success by those who dream big. Transfer JFK's goal to land a man on the moon to how long that lofty goal took to become reality.

5 years ago the guy had no problem burdening his 3 children and wife with nuclear weapons. Now he's a regular Ward Cleaver. He's an old school, hard line death to the west communist, and will tell you anything you want to hear...except "Yes" when asked if his nuclear program can be monitored in any way.

And I don't know where I've said anything about Trump one way or the other, so save the same old same old "Trump basher" or "Trump hater" to somewhere that it applies rather than just a defense for anything that you all don't want to hear.

Nice consolation prizes, I'll give you that. But until the nuclear button is taken off this guy's travelling suitcase, it's all just consolation prizes.

The Kim's are in the position they are in due to their self-imposed paranoia...

They could be a reasonable State-actor with their sovereignty guaranteed by China. Instead they chose to pursue nuclear weapons. Prior to that held a city of 10 million people hostage for 50 years so they could be allowed to make them without interference.

In doing so they're the black list of the global community. Have ruined their country. Starved they're people...

If a Unified Korea ever became a reality, Kim wouldn't exist and he knows it.

I don't think China would allow it.

Problem is after Nixon "reopened" China the Kim's decided to chart their own course based on paranoia of the outside world.

This is where we're in agreement and why Trump is actually using his "relationship" with Kim as leverage....It's why there's a second summit.

Summit just ended abruptly. President heading to the hotel then Air Force One. Joint signing has been cancelled...

He's supposed to give comments in 40 minutes or so...
