The
Turn On The Magic, a Karl Broberg shipper from Oaklawn, was getting steady betting support throughout the wagering period, and I made a small wager on the horse at 4-1 odds with 1-2 minutes to post. The gate opened and the race started BEFORE the
could enter the starting gate, and several of the other jockeys weren't ready for the premature start...and this led to the race being declared a "no contest" by the stewards. The strange thing about this is that, as far as I can tell by the Twinspires tote board, the
drifted up to 8-1 odds after the race was over. And I am wondering if anyone can trace the betting activity of the race to see at which point of the wagering period the odds of the
reached the 8-1 range that Twinspires is reporting.
Did the odds rise before the gate opened...or were bets canceled with the knowledge that the
never exited the starting gate?
