Favorite time of year.

With Pimlico opening, this brings on my favorite time of year. The spring and summer tracks are now opening. A quick check of the charts from the first few days will reveal where the winners are shipping in from and where the losing favorites are coming from. Last year it seemed like horses from the FG did well almost everywhere and Oaklawn horses were over bet. A few years ago TB horses shipped well. It does seem to change every year. This is the time of year when a little home work will help a handicapper's bottom line.

Absolutely. In addition to Reds baseball being back my home track opens at the end of April and Keeneland/Churchill are worth the not-too-long Saturday morning drives.Plus warm weather racing is more predictable. You aren't guessing who is going to fire based solely on half a dozen or more track conditions that winter produces. And in these months there are always a few days up to about a single handful, that you absolutely rake.

This is my favorite time of the year also. Spring is a hopeful time, a time of rebirth with the dogwoods and azaleas in bloom and some welcome warm weather. Bright sunlight in the dungeon (my office) after a long winter. It is also the start of baseball season....GO YANKS. This is when there are numerous developing 3yo that could be "one of the ones". Nothing more rewarding than finding a big horse before everyone else.

In addition to the many fine wagering opportunities that will happen, L&O Criminal Intent (with Eames and you know who) returns May first with all new episodes on the USA network. The world is good.

I find it amusing with all the problems facing Maryland racing, that today is the opening day.

April Fools Day.

Nice one...wouldn't it be funny (no, not really) if it really was an April fool's joke and the track has actually closed.

Chicago Code has become my favorite cop show, after CSI. You can view replays at hul.com. New episodes in May as it is a sweeps month for advertising $$

Although we have no live racing right now in Louisiana (for some odd reason) it is a time of the year where you start getting excited about the racing prospects of the future. Keeneland's spring meeting really gets your attention.
