I always make the same New Year's resolution every year...and I always break it by the 3rd of January. I promise to never again post on Paceadvantage.

Nothing mind boggling by me for 2016:
1. Continue to test, and retest periodically, individual tracks, using multiple rankings methods.
2. Continue to determine the best mix of hit rate, consistency, and ROI of those multiple rankings methods.
3. Continue to manually analyze that best method's record keeping sheet in order to find net loss race types and remove those races from my play.
4. Continue to play only those tracks and methods that produce significant profitable play, and ignore those that don't.
5. Continue to play in a patient, disciplined, and consistent manner, every playing day.
6. Continue to trust my own play above all others.
7. Keep foremost in my mind, at all times, that I don't have to play the game at all, life is full of other, more enjoyable activities.

Continue getting back to enjoying handicapping and betting the races while hoping and trying and expecting to win, but not with such a tenor of necessity and seriousness that it detracts from actually enjoying it.

the pickings are slimmer in jan feb mar but still find some opportunities at the smaller tracks in jan with the 5's over the 4's.

*** doesn't have to be every day, but get back in a more consistent rhythm with my regular plays.
*** start and complete a study i have to do on adjustments to my class ratings.
*** possibly sign up for timeform for two months and more officially test a play that seems consistent that i call the double cj.

Just one for me.
KEE has (as my Italian friends would say) put the "Maloik" on me big time. I never actually place a bet there, I just give them a donation, if you know what I mean.
So my resolution is to avoid wagering at KEE no matter what.
We'll see how long that lasts... probably until opening day at least.

Will probably start my "new" plays in mid-January when my new laptop arrives.
My resolution will be to start with much lower unit wagering sizes than in previous years. Being too aggressive always hurts the bankroll, even if the methodology is profitable.
On a side note, my wagering for 2016 was barely 10% of what it had been the previous 3 years. (Being smart means wagering within the comfort of one's bankroll. It unfortunately takes one years to recognize that!  ).

My New Year's resolution is to make replay-watching a bigger part of my handicapping than it currently is.
There is an Australian television drama series named Jack Irish, starring Guy Pearce...and I watched the first episode a few days ago. Pearce plays a defense attorney, whose wife is murdered by a disgruntled client...and this throws his life totally out of kilter, causing him to turn his back on his law practice...and embark on a new career as a professional horseplayer.
The eye-opening moment of the episode for me was when Pearce, and two of his horse-playing friends, were sitting in a dark room converted into a home theater...watching slow-motion replays of races on a giant movie screen, trying to determine if certain horses were truly allowed by their jockeys to bring forth their best effort.
"That's how a real "pro" ought to operate"...I told myself. And that's what I will try to do in the near future.

The more replays you watch, the more you get to 'know your horse' and less reliant you'll become on other factors. When I hear people talk about humans, I know they're not watching replays, if you know the horse it's easy to embrace low profile humans and get value.

My other resolution will be to end my 5 year boycott of Socal and bet Delmar this summer. High takeout, low rebates and all. I've missed her and don't care if I lose my shirt.

My resolutions for this year:
1) be more selective in which races to bet;
3) pay attention to the details and
4) limit my arguments on horse racing to no more than 2 per quarter.... anyone have a problem with that?
