The Rail or the Hedge: Which Do You Prefer?
I prefer the hedge - all the way.

I can remember Marshall Cassidy's stretch call in the 1981 Diana at Saratoga as if the race was run yesterday:

"Rokeby Rose on the hedge. De La Rose on the outside. De La Rose now takes the lead by a neck ..."

The hedge is so much more beautiful than the rail.

You will be happy to know that Hawthorne's old 6 furlong course had a hedge and no rail.
