Abused Horses In Md. For Rehabilitation
Howard Co. Farm Rehabbing Abused Horses

WOODBINE, Md. --
A Howard County farm received Thursday six of 53 horses found malnourished and abused at a rescue farm in West Virginia.
Workers at the Days End Farm in Woodbine said the horses' eyes all but gave away the neglect and pain they felt.
"If you just look at them, you can just tell that they're hurting," said Rebecca Corkrin, a worker at Days End. "It's the same thing with people, you look into a person's eyes. I really think the eyes are the window to the soul, you can see you can read a lot of their expressions."
The horses -- some close to death -- appear to be thoroughbreds, and they were rescued from a rescue farm in West Virginia and taken to Days End on Thursday.
"All bone structures of the horse, which is normally covered with some fat and flesh, are underneath the flesh. So, it's basically a skeleton with skin," veterinarian Dr. Richard Forfa said.

much more at the link

*** the Website for the rescue is:

I just donated 25 bucks to the operation via their website..........

I wouldn't call it a challenge or anything..............

They allow you to name an organization or person in your donation.....

I used "PaceAdvantage.com Members"

Days End is 10 minutes away from me. They are wonderful people and do so much for horses in need in this area.

Here is the link if anyone is interested in making a donation. Perhaps if you have a winning weekend you might consider contacting them. I've learned that giving away some of your winnings is the best way to have more come back at you.

Patty and I sponsor the horse named Whiskey in Nevada.
We not only enjoy racing, but believe these animals can not help themselves like people can.

Days End is in the throes of a breakout of strangles. They are 35k into treatment already this month, if I read the newsletter right.

http://www.defhr.org/press/Strep1.htm

I just tossed them 50 bucks. Anybody who can toss em a few bucks in the name of paceadvantage (you can list it on the donation page) please consider it.
